The purpose of this report is to identify common practices, barriers, lessons learned, and recommendations on how we can build stronger bridges to support more sustainable and healthier Executive Director transitions. This report can be used as a tool to spark intergenerational conversations between longstanding outgoing leaders, incoming emerging leaders, their board of directors and the wider non-profit sector. It shares people’s real stories and honest reflections on what worked and what didn’t. Everyone who contributed to and authored this report have directly gone through Executive Director leadership transitions.
